This project is a new build in a conservation area and also an area of outstanding natural beauty. The site has an elevated aspect and is very exposed to the elements. The client brief was to create a natural looking informal garden with emphasis on creating various viewing points to admire the surrounding countryside whilst providing a fun garden for all the family to enjoy throughout the year.
The Concept Plan
Woodland Planting Plan
The native woodland planting scheme was designed primarily to add to the ecological value of the site, whilst providing shelter and protection from the elements.
The woodland was designed to be coppiced at regular intervals to provide fuel for the house and also to provide ever changing vistas through the planting.
The areas underneath the canopies of the existing mature trees were to be planted with various bulbs and left to naturalise.
Native aquatic planting was included for the pond area, and mixed shrub planting added to the front of the site to screen the property from the road.
